Modules

Manufacture module

Track production tasks, manage work sessions, and transform inventory through create, assembly, quality, and batch operations.

Quick Answer

Track production tasks from start to finish. Define inputs (materials consumed) and outputs (products created), log work sessions with built-in timers, and update inventory automatically when tasks complete.

Four task types cover different workflows: Create for simple production, Assembly for building from components, Quality for inspections, and Batch for bulk processing.

Overview

Overview

The Manufacture module helps you:

  • Create products — Transform raw materials into finished goods
  • Assemble items — Build products from component parts
  • Control quality — Track QC checkpoints and inspections
  • Process batches — Handle bulk manufacturing operations

Task types

The module organises manufacturing work into four task categories:

Task typePurposeBadge colour
CreateTransform materials into new productsBlue
AssemblyBuild products from componentsGreen
QualityQuality control and inspection tasksAmber
BatchBulk processing operationsPurple

Each tab shows a count badge indicating active tasks requiring attention.

Working with tasks

Creating tasks

Click New Task in the header to create a task matching your current tab, or use the empty state prompt when no tasks exist.

Task creation form:

  • Enter a description of the work
  • Select the location where work will be performed
  • Set an optional due date
  • Add input items (materials to consume)
  • Add output items (products to create)
  • Configure quantities for each item

Viewing tasks

Switch between three display modes using the view switcher:

ViewBest for
ListQuick scanning with metrics visible
CardVisual overview in a responsive grid
TableData-heavy work with sortable columns

Searching tasks

Use the search bar to find tasks by:

  • Task number
  • Description
  • Location

Task lifecycle

Tasks progress through a defined workflow:

Pending → In Progress → Completed

            Voided

Status definitions

StatusMeaning
PendingTask is created but work hasn’t started
In ProgressWork is actively being performed
CompletedTask is finished, inventory updated
VoidedTask has been cancelled

Task Details & Work Sessions

Task details

When you open a task, you’ll see:

Header section

  • Task number and type indicator
  • Status badge
  • Location information
  • Quick action buttons

Details section

  • Task description
  • Due date
  • Created and modified timestamps
  • Custom fields

Inputs section

  • Materials required for the task
  • Quantities to consume
  • Current stock levels
  • Unit of measure

Outputs section

  • Products to be created
  • Target quantities
  • Yield tracking

Work sessions

  • Start/stop timer for work tracking
  • Session history with timestamps
  • Total duration calculation
  • Worker assignments

Timeline

  • Activity log showing all changes
  • Notes and comments
  • Timestamp for each event

Work session tracking

The Manufacture module includes built-in time tracking:

Starting work

  1. Open a task in Pending or In Progress status
  2. Click the Start button or timer icon
  3. The session timer begins recording

Ending work

  1. Click the Stop button when finished
  2. The session is saved with duration
  3. Multiple sessions can be logged per task

Session metrics

  • Duration — Total time worked on the task
  • Sessions — Number of work sessions logged
  • Active — Indicator when a session is in progress

Tasks with active sessions show a green timer indicator in list and card views.

Inputs and outputs

Manufacturing tasks consume inputs and produce outputs:

Input items

  • Raw materials, components, or intermediate products
  • Quantities are reserved when the task starts
  • Stock is consumed when the task completes

Output items

  • Finished products or intermediate goods
  • Quantities are added to inventory on completion
  • Yield variances can be tracked

Metrics displayed

Each task card shows:

  • In — Number of input line items (total quantity)
  • Out — Number of output line items (total quantity)
  • Produces — Preview of output product names

Bulk Operations & Archive

Bulk operations

Select multiple tasks to perform actions in batch:

  1. Click Select in the header to enter selection mode
  2. Click checkboxes on individual task cards (or use Select All)
  3. The action bar shows bulk action buttons:
    • Archive — Move completed tasks to archive
    • Delete — Move tasks to recycle bin
  4. Confirm the operation
  5. Click Done to exit selection mode

Archive and recycle bin

Archived tasks

Completed tasks can be archived to keep your active queue clean:

  • Access via Archived in the sidebar menu
  • Browse archived tasks by type (Create, Assembly, Quality, Batch)
  • Bulk unarchive to restore multiple tasks
  • Bulk delete to move archived tasks to recycle bin

Recycle bin

Deleted tasks go to the recycle bin before permanent removal:

  • Access via Recycle Bin in the sidebar menu
  • View deletion date for each task
  • Restore individual tasks back to the active list
  • Tasks in the recycle bin don’t affect inventory counts

The sidebar shows a badge count when items are in the recycle bin.

Feature flags

Some task types may be enabled or disabled based on your subscription:

  • Assembly — Requires Assembly feature flag
  • Quality — Requires Quality Control feature flag
  • Batch — Requires Batch Processing feature flag

Disabled tabs appear greyed out in the tab bar.

Best Practices & Integration

Best practices

  1. Break down complex work — Create separate tasks for distinct production stages
  2. Track work sessions — Use the timer to capture accurate labour time
  3. Verify quantities — Double-check input and output quantities before completing
  4. Archive regularly — Move completed tasks to keep the active queue focused
  5. Add notes — Document any issues or variations on the task timeline
  6. Review before completion — Once completed, inventory movements are recorded

Integration with other modules

With Inventory

  • Input items consume stock from inventory
  • Output items add stock to inventory
  • Composite items can be assembled from components

With Orders

  • Receive orders can trigger manufacturing tasks
  • Completed manufacturing increases available stock for orders

With Warehouse

  • Tasks can specify location for work
  • Stock movements are tracked by location

  • Inventory — Manage the products consumed and produced
  • Order Manager — Orders that drive manufacturing demand
  • Warehouse — Location management for production
