Overview

Sherpa is an Australian technology company founded in 2014 by Mathieu Cornillon, Ben Nowland, and Bastien Vetault, launching delivery operations in March 2015. Operating from Redfern in Sydney, Sherpa has grown into Australia’s largest independent same-day delivery platform, serving over 25,000 businesses. The platform connects senders with a network of crowdsourced drivers across 10 major metro cities and 7 regional centres including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart, Canberra, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Geelong, and Wollongong, with expansion into New Zealand.

Flexible Delivery Windows

Sherpa offers four delivery speed tiers to suit different urgency levels: 1-hour for critical items, 2-hour for urgent needs, 4-hour for standard same-day, and end-of-day for non-urgent local delivery. Pricing scales with speed, giving businesses and consumers control over cost and timing.

Real-Time Tracking and Notifications

Every delivery includes live GPS tracking, SMS notifications, and digital proof of delivery. Both senders and recipients can follow the driver’s progress in real time through the Sherpa platform, providing a transparent delivery experience similar to rideshare services.

E-Commerce Platform Integration

Sherpa provides native apps for Shopify and WooCommerce that automate same-day delivery at checkout. The Shopify app supports customisable delivery distances and rates, prep time configuration, free delivery thresholds, and customer tracking links. Integration with Starshipit extends connectivity to Magento, Cin7, Unleashed, and other inventory management systems.

Own Driver and 3PL Management

Beyond its crowdsourced network, Sherpa’s platform allows businesses to manage their own delivery drivers alongside Sherpa’s fleet. This hybrid model gives companies the flexibility to use internal resources when available and overflow to the Sherpa network during peak periods.
