Silk Logistics Holdings is a leading Australian-founded logistics business providing integrated port-to-door services. The company traces its heritage back over a century through Hoffmann Transport and Kagan Logistics in Victoria, before being consolidated and acquired through a management buyout in 2014 led by Brendan Boyd and John Sood. Silk listed on the ASX (SLH) in July 2021 and grew to operate 47 facilities across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia, generating over $550 million in annual revenue. In late 2024, DP World Australia announced the acquisition of Silk Logistics for approximately $175 million, which was approved by the ACCC in mid-2025.
Key Capabilities
Port Logistics
Silk’s Port Logistics division provides wharf cartage and container transport services between Australia’s major ports and inland destinations. As the third-largest port-to-door operator in Australia’s major cities, Silk manages over 35,000 containers through its port logistics network, connecting port terminals to warehouses and distribution centres nationwide.
Contract Logistics and Warehousing
Silk operates an extensive warehousing network strategically located in proximity to all major Australian ports. Facilities are certified for HACCP, fumigation, AQIS, export, and dangerous goods handling. The Contract Logistics division provides B2B, B2C, and e-commerce fulfilment supply chain solutions through both multi-user and dedicated warehouse facilities, with approximately 70% of warehousing revenue derived from recurring contracts.
Distribution and Supply Chain Solutions
Through its national network of logistics hubs, Silk provides end-to-end distribution services connecting ports to final delivery points. The company operates under multiple brands including Silk Contract Logistics, Rocke Brothers, 101Warehousing, Fremantle Freight and Storage, and Secon Freight Logistics, each serving specialised market segments across FMCG, retail, fashion, homewares, and industrial sectors.
